The battle rages on at the premium end of the TV market, with brands including Samsung, LG, Sony, Hisense and TCL pushing new panel technologies designed to deliver brighter, more colourful experiences than ever.
Those technologies come at a price, however, and most people I speak to wouldn’t dream of spending the kind of money range-topping QD-OLED, SQD Mini LED and RGB Mini LED TVs cost. In fact, a significant proportion of my friends and colleagues have told me that £1,000 is their hard upper limit when shopping for a television.
So, although luxury flagships such as the Samsung S99H and TCL X11L deserve plenty of admiration, it’s lower-mid-range models such as the Samsung QN80H that sit in the sweet spot of performance and affordability for most shoppers. I’ve spent the past month using the Samsung QN80H as my primary television to assess how well this Mini LED TV with full-array local dimming hits that spot.
