It’s funny how things work, because I am about to contradict myself regarding my opinion of the LG Smart Monitor Swing versus the LG StandbyME 2 I reviewed a little while ago. Both devices offer similar functionality – essentially being a ‘TV-on-wheels’ – but the Swing acts as a more affordable, albeit less versatile, version of that formula.
Compared to the StandbyME 2, the Swing doesn’t have a built-in battery, so it is always tethered to a wire, and it doesn’t come with the same variety of mounting options. In return, it gives you a significantly larger 32” screen with 4K resolution on a glossy IPS panel, rather than the 27” 1440p panel found on the StandbyME 2. You also get a slightly chunkier, more prominent stand.
In my review of the StandbyME 2, I praised the product for its versatility, but concluded that at AED 4499, it was too niche. Unless you desperately needed that specific flexibility, you were better off just getting a nice, large OLED tablet. Logically, the same should be said about the LG Smart Monitor Swing. At AED 3699, a standard TV is likely a better option, or you could even DIY a similar setup for cheaper.
But for some reason, I like the Swing a whole lot more. It’s not a perfect device by any means, and it has pretty major drawbacks for its price, but when used for its intended purpose, it does the job. In fact, I might even go so far as to tell you that maybe, this one is worth the price?

Setup, Design and Features
As I said previously, the LG Smart Monitor Swing is basically a TV-on-wheels and it comes with the required stand to err, swing it around your home.
Putting it all together is relatively simple, albeit it might require two sets of hands because it is heavy – ask me, I had to single-handedly carry all the parts from the office to my home for this review. My forearms still ache.
