Taylor Sheridan’s career began just over 10 years ago when he wrote the script for Sicario, the legendary neo-Western thriller starring Josh Brolin and Emily Blunt. In the years following Sicario, Sheridan wrote and even directed a few more neo-Western features — like Hell or High Water (starring Jeff Bridges and Chris Pine), Wind River (starring Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen), and even Without Remorse (starring Michael B. Jordan). It wasn’t until the launch of Yellowstone in 2018 that he began his TV empire, which is still going strong to this day with new releases like The Madison (starring Kurt Russell and Michelle Pfeiffer) and Marshals (starring Luke Grimes). Sheridan has made himself one of the most valuable screenwriters in Hollywood, so much so that he fetched a near $1 billion deal to leave Paramount for NBCUniversal.
While Sheridan is best known for his neo-Western thrillers, he has visited the crime saga well a few times and found nothing but success. One of his biggest hit shows is Tulsa King (starring Sylvester Stallone), and it is more akin to The Sopranos or MobLand than it is anything Yellowstone-related. Back in 2021, four years after the release of Wind River, Sheridan reunited with Jeremy Renner for a new TV series, Mayor of Kingstown. The show has aired four successful seasons on Paramount+, and it’s currently in the middle of production on Season 5, which is confirmed to be the show’s final season. After just casting Nestor Carbonell in Season 5, Mayor of Kingstown has surged back into the Paramount+ global top 10 as fans around the world wait and see what’s going to happen in the final season.
