WCVB is proud to be the exclusive local broadcast and streaming partner of the Boston Athletic Association’s 130th running of the Boston Marathon® presented by Bank of America, on Monday, April 20. The race will also stream live and be available on demand on Very Local, powered by WCVB, as well as live on wcvb.com and the WCVB app. ESPN returns as the exclusive national broadcast partner providing coverage outside of New England on ESPN2. Throughout the day, NewsCenter 5 will share stories of fearlessness, passion, and grit from the field of 30,000 Boston Marathon runners participating in one of the most treasured athletic events in Massachusetts’ history and the world’s oldest annual and most prestigious marathon.In advance of race day, WCVB will air a live primetime special on Thursday, April 16 from 8:00-9:00PM, “History, Heroes, and Heart: The 130th Boston Marathon.” From the world-renowned athletes looking to make history to the trailblazers who paved the way to all the everyday runners putting their endurance to the test, NewsCenter 5 shares the inspiring stories behind this year's Boston Marathon. Then, on Saturday, April 18, in addition to extended coverage in regularly scheduled EyeOpener newscasts at 5:00AM, 6:00AM, and 8:00AM, NewsCenter 5 will air a special entitled “NewsCenter 5: Race to the Marathon” from 11:30AM-12:30PM.
